Backed by 17 years in business and our 18-month workmanship warranty, we've completed over 1,483 projects, from a single post pair to reinforced footings through limestone.

From the first stake to the last backfill, our team handles every detail. Serving Cedar Park together with Leander, Lakeway and Georgetown, we treat the installation as site work first, because a good gate hung on a bad footing fails within a season.

Emmett has a drive in Steiner Ranch on the University Club side, with a sprinkler main and low-voltage lines right where the posts wanted to go. We ran a survey and utility locates first, adjusted the post line, bored the footings through rock and had the association sign-off in hand. The one leaf on two new posts, set through rock around buried utilities on new reinforced footings, was an estimated $5,100 to $7,000 and took an estimated 2 to 3 days. The posts sit in solid ground with nothing cut and no rework.

What Installation Really Means

Installing a driveway gate is mostly work in the ground: finding what is buried, setting the post line, boring and pouring the footings, and letting the concrete cure before any leaf is hung.

Flat lots are often easy to bore. Lime Creek Road drives in Volente hit limestone ledge, so the footing plan changes lot by lot.

What the Site Work Includes

Post footings
36-inch minimum depth for fence posts and 48-inch for gate posts, with rock bits used wherever a limestone ledge stops the auger.
Slope handling
Pickets racked to follow a grade up to the panel limit, then stepped; a sloped drive is shot with a level before any gate type is chosen.
Ground clearance
Bottom rail set to clear the highest point of the leaf arc, with drainage kept open under the gate.
Fire access
Key switch or strobe sensor where the fire department having jurisdiction asks for one, confirmed before the gate is ordered.
Entrapment protection
Photo eyes and edges set at each pinch zone whenever the gate gets an operator.
Hinge rating
Ball-bearing heavy-duty hinges rated above the finished leaf weight, with the leaf weighed before the hinge is ordered.
Backup power
Battery backup on every operator, solar sized to shade from live oak and the number of daily cycles.

Driveway Gate Installation Cost in Cedar Park

The labor to install sits inside the price of the gate system, so a single swing system is an estimated $2,700 to $4,900, and the ground under the posts moves that number most. Footings through rock, long conduit runs and column work are written on their own lines of your quote. Garrett in Round Rock paid an estimated $2,900 to $4,400 over 2 to 3 days for an 18 ft leaf on a new concrete strip. Yvonne's 20 ft cantilever on a sloped Volente gravel drive was an estimated $7,100 to $9,400 and 3 to 4 days. Cole in Crystal Falls paid an estimated $4,600 to $6,400 over 2 to 3 days for two 8 ft leaves and a loop detector. Maribel in Rough Hollow paid an estimated $6,400 to $7,900 over 2 to 3 days for a 16 ft opening between limestone columns. Jerome on Andice Road acreage in Georgetown paid an estimated $3,400 to $4,700 over 1 to 2 days for a 16 ft leaf with solar power.

Hanging a tube steel single swing gate with operator is an estimated 1 to 2 days, and a double leaf swing entry is an estimated 2 to 3 days. Bolting an operator to a gate you already own is an estimated $1,900 to $3,700 and about 4 to 8 hours, while a walkway gate next to the drive is an estimated $650 to $1,450. Rock, conduit length and column work can change any of these estimates, and the written quote you get once the post line is marked sets the final price and the schedule.

Manual or Automatic: What Changes on Site

The choice between a manual and an automatic gate changes the site work more than the steel. The table shows what each one asks of the ground.

QuestionManual gateAutomatic gate
PowerNoneConduit run or solar panel
FootingsSized to the leafSized to the leaf plus operator thrust
Safety gearLatch and stopsPhoto eyes, edges and a release
Fire accessOften a lock the crew can cutKey switch or strobe sensor

Adding an operator later is possible, and bolting one on later costs an estimated $1,900 to $3,700, but running conduit is cheaper before the footings are poured. If you may automate someday, we set the conduit now.

Survey, Utility Locates and Buried Line Risks

Buried lines are the biggest risk on a Cedar Park drive. A sprinkler main, low-voltage lighting, a gas line or a water service can sit exactly where a post wants to go, and a bored hole through any of them is an expensive mistake. We shoot the grade, call for utility locates and mark the post line before the auger turns. On Emmett's drive in Steiner Ranch a sprinkler main ran right where the posts wanted to go, so we ran locates first and adjusted the post line.

Footings, Rock and Columns

A footing is a hole sized to the post, bored below the frost-free depth we use and poured in one go. Limestone ledges stop a standard auger, so we bring rock bits and plan extra time. Yvonne's Lime Creek Road footings were rock-bored into the ledge. Maribel's stone columns in Rough Hollow were tied to deep footings, with the leaf pair bolted in. Concrete needs time to cure before a heavy leaf is hung, so we schedule the footing day and the hang day apart.

City Codes, HOA Approval and Fire Access

Codes and approvals decide where the posts can go, so we check them before the plan is final, and you should confirm current text with the city. In Cedar Park, fences not over 8 ft are exempt from a building permit, which you should confirm with the city. Round Rock asks for a Knox key switch and a Fire Marshal acceptance test, and Lakeway asks for a key switch for Travis County ESD #6. West Lake Hills code 22.03.173 sets setbacks of 20 ft under 0.75 acre and 30 ft at 0.75 acre or more, and Rollingwood Sec. 107-34 asks for 15 ft from the curb. In The Hills the association and the Village both sign off before work starts, and part of Shady Hollow falls inside the City of Austin under Austin Fire. We write each approval on the quote and keep the paperwork with the job.

Materials and Related Gate Options

Posts and leaves are chosen together, and our steel gate material comparison explains galvanizing and powder coat. For the arm that moves the leaf, see gate operator installation.

Why Owners Choose Our Crew for Gate Installation

We survey, bore, pour and hang with one crew, so the person who marks the post line is the person who checks the leaf. In 17 years and over 1,483 projects, the 18-month workmanship warranty has covered welds, hinge set, footings and gate travel on every install.

Gate Installation Service Areas

We install gates across a 40-mile radius, with jobs in Leander, Lakeway and Georgetown, and the full list is on our service area page. A single leaf in Leander or Georgetown is an estimated 1 to 2 days, and a pair in Lakeway or Round Rock is an estimated 2 to 3 days. Footings through rock in Steiner Ranch and Volente stretch to an estimated 2 to 4 days. Before a West Lake Hills or Rollingwood plan is final, the setback and sight lines get checked. In Shady Hollow and The Hills, fire and association approvals have to come through before we order steel. Yvonne's job in Volente ran an estimated 3 to 4 days with footings rock-bored into the ledge. Hollis's 16 ft leaf on a Buttercup Creek corner lot left room for guest parking, an estimated $3,100 to $4,300. Beckett's first post in Great Hills had sagged, so we set a new steel post for his 14 ft leaf and measured a large oak before digging. Ignacio's existing masonry columns at Ranch at Brushy Creek took new hinge plates for a steel leaf.

How a Gate Gets From Our Shop to Your Drive

  1. Site measure

An estimator walks the opening, reads the grade and marks where the leaf or the slide run has to clear.

  2. Drawings and approval

Steel gets cut only after you sign off on a scaled drawing that names the tube, the coating and the opener.

  3. Shop fabrication

Our Cedar Park welders build it, the steel goes for galvanizing and powder coat, and it ships finished.

  4. Install and safety test

Posts cure, the leaf goes up, the opener gets wired, and you watch each photo eye and edge stop the gate.
