Investment and duration figures are estimates. Your written quote sets the final price and schedule.

Renata brought an architect's elevation with a slim arch that had to stay see-through from the road. We worked from a full-scale shop drawing, 1-inch tube pickets at 4-inch centers and a low arch that matched the roof pitch. The 14 ft opening, two arched leaves in steel with drawn bronze powder coat, was an estimated $5,600 to $7,600 and took an estimated 2 to 3 days to set. The gate reads as open from the street, and it matches the drawing to the inch.

What Custom Fabrication Means for a Driveway Gate

A custom driveway gate is one that is drawn for your opening and welded in a shop, not picked from a catalog size. That means the opening width, the grade and the post spacing are measured first, and the drawing follows them.

Renata's Redbud Trail home in West Lake Hills needed a low arch matched to the roof pitch. Lakeway's flat-top rule sets the top rail on a gate like Joelle's on the Lohmans Crossing side.

The Fabrication Details We Specify on Every Gate

Frame steel
14-gauge tube pickets on 11-gauge rails and 3/16-inch wall gate posts, sized to the leaf rather than to a catalog.
Picket spacing
Clear gaps held to no more than 4 inches.
Top detail
Flat-top rail, spear, or finial, selected against the local code and how the fence sits near deer paths.
Hinges
Ball-bearing heavy-duty hinges rated above the finished leaf weight, with the leaf weighed before the hinge is ordered.
Ground clearance
Bottom rail set to clear the highest point of the leaf arc, with drainage kept open under the gate.
Footings
36-inch minimum depth for fence posts and 48-inch for gate posts, with rock bits used wherever a limestone ledge stops the auger.
Finish
Sandblast, zinc-rich primer and a polyester powder coat.

Custom Driveway Gate Cost in Cedar Park

A shop-built double leaf swing entry with operators is estimated at $4,200 to $7,800, and the design, the tube size and the finish move that number most. A plain single leaf sits lower, and hand-forged scrollwork sits higher.

Setting a tube steel single swing gate with operator is an estimated 1 to 2 days, while a double leaf swing entry runs an estimated 2 to 3 days. If the drive suits a different style, a track slide gate with rack drive is estimated at $1,700 to $4,800 over 2 to 3 days, and a trackless cantilever is estimated at $6,200 to $9,800 over 2 to 4 days. A walkway or courtyard entry gate beside the drive is an estimated $650 to $1,450 and about 4 to 8 hours. Past jobs show the spread. Cole's two 8 ft leaves in Leander, in tube steel with satin black powder coat, were an estimated $4,600 to $6,400, and Maribel's 16 ft opening between limestone columns in Lakeway, in steel with oil-rubbed bronze powder coat, was an estimated $6,400 to $7,900. Garrett's 18 ft slide on a flat Round Rock drive was an estimated $2,900 to $4,400, and Yvonne's 20 ft clear cantilever on a sloped gravel drive in Volente was an estimated $7,100 to $9,400. The shop lead time before the set day is on your written quote. Every figure here is an estimate that could change with the drawing, the tube size or the finish you approve, and the written quote you sign after the drawing sets the final price and the schedule.

Picket Patterns, Tube Sizes and Finish

The picket pattern decides how the gate looks and how hard it is to climb, and the tube size decides how heavy and stiff it is. The table shows the choices we draw most often.

ChoiceWhat it changesWhere it fits
Flat-top railCleaner top line, passes strict fence ordinancesLakeway and HOA streets
Spear or finial topClassic look, harder to climbAcreage and hilltop drives

The Drawing Approval Process

We draw the leaf to scale over your measured opening, mark the hinge and latch side, and note where an operator will mount.

Revisions are free before cutting. After welding starts, a change becomes a new quote, because the shop has already committed steel to your drawing. Texas homestead projects over $5,000 follow a written contract and escrow under Property Code Chapter 162, so confirm current text with the city or your lender if your project falls under it.

Materials and Finishes for a Shop-Built Gate

Tube steel is the standard for shop-built gates because it welds clean and takes powder coat well. Our steel gate material comparison explains galvanizing against powder coat, and automatic driveway gates covers the operator once the leaf is drawn.

Why Owners Choose Our Shop

We weld in our own shop and set the gate ourselves, so the person who drew your leaf is the one who fits it. In 17 years and over 1,483 projects, the 18-month workmanship warranty has covered welds, hinge set, footings and gate travel on every shop-built gate.

Custom Gate Service Areas

We build and set shop-fabricated gates across a 40-mile radius, including West Lake Hills, Lakeway, Georgetown and Round Rock, and the full list is on our service area page. Limestone under Volente and Steiner Ranch lots means rock bits ride along for the footings. A shop-built leaf in Georgetown or Round Rock is an estimated 2 to 3 days to set, and a single leaf in Leander or Cedar Park is an estimated 1 to 2 days. Lakeway and Rollingwood owners should confirm the flat-top rule and the 15 ft curb setback with the city. Fire review and association sign-off come first in Shady Hollow and The Hills, before the shop cuts any steel. Renata's 14 ft arched opening on Redbud Trail was an estimated $5,600 to $7,600.

Related Gate Services

A shop-built leaf often pairs with estate entry columns, a matching wrought iron fence or a hand-forged wrought iron gate. A modern elevation often suits horizontal slat gates.

Custom Driveway Gate Questions Answered

How much does a custom driveway gate cost in Cedar Park?

A shop-built double leaf entry is estimated at $4,200 to $7,800, and the drawing you approve fixes the final number in your written quote.

How long does the shop take to build a gate?

Shop lead time depends on the drawing and the finish, and your written quote names it before you sign.

Can you match a gate to my architect's drawing?

Yes, we build to a full-scale shop drawing and match the arch, the picket pattern and the tube sizes to the elevation.

What picket spacing do you use?

We hold clear gaps to no more than 4 inches on every custom leaf.

Can the gate be built without an operator?

Yes, a manual leaf is welded the same way, and an operator can be added later at an estimated $1,900 to $3,700.

What finish lasts in Central Texas heat?

Sandblast, zinc-rich primer and polyester powder coat, which holds color better than paint in full sun.

How a Gate Gets From Our Shop to Your Drive

  1. Site measure

An estimator walks the opening, reads the grade and marks where the leaf or the slide run has to clear.

  2. Drawings and approval

Steel gets cut only after you sign off on a scaled drawing that names the tube, the coating and the opener.

  3. Shop fabrication

Our Cedar Park welders build it, the steel goes for galvanizing and powder coat, and it ships finished.

  4. Install and safety test

Posts cure, the leaf goes up, the opener gets wired, and you watch each photo eye and edge stop the gate.
